Who invented the World Wide Web? When was it?
The web, the part of the Internet that provides users with graphics, audio and video, was first developed in 1990 by English computer scientist Tim Berners-Lee (see photo), who wrote the web software at the CERN physics laboratory near Geneva, Switzerland.
The web became part of the Internet in 1991, and had played a major role in the growing popularity of the international computer network, making information more accessible to the users via multi-media interfaces.
